Engaging Students to Learn by Learning to Engage Students:
The “Staying F.O.C.U.S.E.D.” Framework
Date: 25 July 2018 (Wednesday)
Time: 12:30 – 1:45 pm
Venue: Faculty Boardroom B, 6/F William MW Mong Block, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine Building, 21 Sassoon Road
Presenters: Dr Robert WRIGHT & Ms July Rongjiao ZHU, Hong Kong Polytechnic University
We all know that we learn a lot from doing. Yet all educators know that we learn a lot more when we ‘think’ about what we are doing. This session will walk you through an innovative strategic thinking framework that has been developed and tested over the past 8 years, called ‘Staying F.O.C.U.S.E.D.’, and how it can help engage students to open up alternatives to better deal with unsolved problems, issues and challenges. Attendees will have hand-on opportunity to see how it might be applied to individual teaching (research or administrative) contexts, regardless of disciplinary field.
