Pre-practicum Training on Crisis Management: Assessment & Management of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
(Only open to MSocSc(Counselling) Year 1 Students)


About the Workshop:
Crisis situations are demanding to frontline counsellors because they require immediate interventions to handle life-and-death situations that involves the personal safety of their clients. Many counselors in practicum training encounter unexpected crisis situations in their initial stages of providing counselling and this course is designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge in assessing and managing domestic violence and child abuse situations.

About the speaker:
Ms. Natalie Tong is a California Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and a Registered Psychologist who has been practicing psychotherapy for 20 years. She has served as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong for 12 years and was a part-time instructor at the City University of Hong Kong. Natalie has been training frontline social workers and counselors in the area of counseling for 14 years. In her private practice, she works extensively with clients suffering from depression, complex trauma, anxiety, and couple distress. In her couple therapy work, she has received supervision on Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy from Dr. Ting Liu and is an ICEEFT Certified EFT Therapist. In her individual work with clients, she has received supervision in Emotion-Focused Therapy from Professor Leslie Greenberg and she held a certification as an EFT Practitioner (Individual therapy) with the EFT Clinic, York University and HKCMAC. As a teacher and a psychologist, she integrated her training in both EFT models with her training in clinical psychology

* Please bring a $500 cheque with your name clearly written at the back made payable to “The University of Hong Kong” to Ms. Cindy Kwong at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, Room 534, 5/F, The Jockey Club Tower, Centennial Campus, HKU. The registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of the deposit. The cheque will be returned to students upon full attendance.

Registration is open from 14/06/2018 17:00(HKT) to 08/08/2018 23:59(HKT) on a first-come-first-served basis. The registration quota for this event is 35. Registrants will be placed on a waiting list if the registration quota is reached.
