Hong Kong Keywords Workshop 2018
Inheritance has never been a taken-for-granted progression, especially from the myriad stories and experiences in the production and reception of Hong Kong popular cultures. Between coloniality and nationality, locality and transnationality, high and low, niche and mass as well as decent and obscene, Hong Kong popular cultures have been struggling along contesting boundaries in screen, sound, linguistic and performing media. If to inherit is to re-situate Hong Kong popular cultures from the intersecting contours of geopolitics and histories, to think and imagine beyond such confines may help to recharge the momentum in reconfiguring our pop cultural imaginaries and for resisting against the idea that Hong Kong popular cultures are dying.
