Event Details

The course aimed to introduce the basic concepts of disaster medicine to medical and nursing students whom study in The University of Hong Kong or The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Students were taught about the principles of managing a disastrous incident, disaster triage procedures, basics of responding to a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incident, and disaster medical care. Students also had the chance to get hands-on experience in using emergency response teams’ equipment and practicing radio communications protocol.

Target participants:
Medical and Nursing Students (HKU & CUHK)
Year 4 or above for MBBS/ MBChB curriculum
Year 3 or above for BNurs curriculum

Course fee:
Free-of-charge

Certificate:
A “Certificate of Completion” from the Emergency Medicine Unit of The University of Hong Kong will be issued to participants upon satisfactory completion of the entire Course.

Please be informed that there will not be provision of free parking for the participants. Lunch will not be included.

Remarks (For medical students): We will organize Ultrasound-Assisted Clinical Skills in Disasters Course (Basic) in December, 2018, and completing the primer course is a prerequisite.
