Event Details

The incredible edible egg can be used to paint! The Ancient Egyptians used egg tempera to paint on stone, while Byzantine artists in Europe used tempera on their illuminated manuscripts. To coincide with the special exhibition "North Korea’s Public Face", UMAG is offering paint-making workshops for families to create paint using fresh egg yolk and dry pigments. Participants will learn about this centuries-old technique, and have the opportunity to paint on plasterboard using their own paint.
Preparation: As many of the posters’ themes are related to agriculture, it is suggested that participants prepare image related to the exhibition, such as landscapes or animals.
Special note: Egg tempera can be quite pungent.
