FINANCIALIZATION AND SOCIETY
Financialization is a process that transforms real goods, services, and risks to be readily exchangeable in financial markets and therefore priced and accounted for. This process, simplifies agents’ financial rationality based on money and the flow of money. At the same time, Financialization is interpreted to express the ascendancy and the growing dominance of capital markets and financial systems that has led to a deviant finance, i.e. a self-serving end rather than a means for economic development and social well-being. The purpose of this presentation are to elaborate the incongruence of finance when confronted with the social consequences it seeds. And assess whether some traditional and financial approaches based on fundamental financial models can account for the aggregate and social consequences they entail. A number of special cases are considered including for example: Multi Agents wealth, consumption Pricing and inequalities; Public (collective) Infrastructure and lagging private investments; Environmental investments and related problems.
