Speaker: Francis Chang (Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, FOX Networks Group)
This public lecture will focus on:
- The complexities of procuring, managing and licensing IP rights in a media business.
- Changes and challenges in the regulatory, competitive and technological environment faced by the global media industry over the last twenty years.
- The key role of copyright laws, IP policies and enforcement in creating a fair business environment for key stakeholders in a digital media economy.
About the speaker:
Francis Chang is Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs, Asia Pacific and the Middle East for FOX Networks Group (“FOX”), which is part of 21st Century Fox. As general counsel, Francis is responsible for FOX’s business and legal affairs in this region, as well as its standards and practices. Francis has over two decades of experience in the areas of corporate, commercial, media, technology and intellectual property law. Prior to joining FOX, Francis was a partner in the corporate and technology groups at the Canadian law firm, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, in Vancouver. He had also previously worked at STAR TV as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel from 1999 to 2005, prior to the network coming under 21st Century Fox, and prior to his tenure at STAR TV, Francis worked at Walt Disney Television International in Hong Kong.
Francis studied law at the University of Toronto, and also has an M.B.A., Finance from New York University Stern School of Business.
