Lecture Title: Application of Ultrasonography and Ultrasound Elastography in Dental Practice

Ultrasonography is advantageous because it is non-invasive, quick, convenient and economic, allowing for real-time visualization and providing high spatial resolution. Ultrasound elastography provides complementary information about tissue stiffness. The following topics will be covered in this lecture; (1) Outline of basic principles of utrasonography and ultrasound elastography, (2) Clinical significance of those modalities in dental practice for the diagnosis of various diseases, such as lymph node metastases, oral cancers, periapical lesions and temporomandibular joint disorders.
